I know this is a heated topic. And I also realize that it’s not an easy decision to make. In this video I am discussing some of the important reasons why it’s important for children to go back to school. We are also discussing the risk of children being in school, different strategies we can do for each age group to mitigate risks or limit the risk of transmission, and measures we can take for adults like the teachers and staff that are in schools.
I wish I could speak longer than 10 minutes because I have so much to say. This isn’t easy and it’s not a one-size-fits-all approach. We may even see hybrid models that use a combination of the precautions I mentioned and/or sending kids to school 3x a week with 2x a week learning from home. Each county and district will come up with a plan to meet appropriate precautions that are feasible with the resources it has.
This is not a perfect situation, and we don’t have all the answers. I certainly don’t, but I do feel like we do this if we plan appropriately. I know we know more now than we do in March and good planning, public health protocols, funding, all of this goes into play to make this happen.
